Udupi, Jun 20: Many people who arrived in the city from Maharashtra and other places are tested positive for the virus. All of them are under treatment. Teams are formed within village and ward limits to identify infected persons and ensure that the virus does not spread.

Ten fever clinics are opened in various places in the district to examine people with symptoms.

All the facilities to collect throat swabs for lab tests, identify the virus and treat the people are made available in fever clinics. Large hospitals and nursing homes are advised to open separate fever clinics in them in order to curb the spread of the virus among other patients and staff.

As there are demands for separate testing centers in Kundapur and Byndoor, a fever clinic is being opened in Siddapur soon.

COVID-19 virus can spread to anybody among ordinary people. They can be completely cured by early detection and swift treatment. Therefore, people in the district who experience COVID symptoms such as fever, cough, breathing difficulties etc should visit the nearest fever clinics and get themselves examined, said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
