Udupi, Jun 22: Seers of Sri Krishna Math in the city involved themselves in meditation and chanting as soon as the first solar eclipse of the year started on Sunday June 21.

Though the lockdown restrictions are relaxed in the state, Sri Krishna Math is not open to the public yet. Even on Sunday, the math was closed. However, puja rituals were carried out by the seers as usual inside the math.

Head seers of six maths, under the leadership of Adamaru Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji immersed themselves in meditation, prayer and chanting outside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple even before the actual solar eclipse started. As soon as the solar eclipse started, all the seers arrived at Krishna Math and meditated.

Everyday at 11.30 am Mahapuja is offered to Lord Sri Krishna at the Sri Krishna Math. In the wake of this ritual, Paryaya Adamaru Swamiji removed all the decorative items that were on the idol of Lord Sri Krishna and just offered a garland of Tulasi leaves to the lord. After 1.35 pm when the solar eclipse ended, the math was cleaned and usual puja was held.

Senior seer of Palimaru Math Sri Vidhyadheesha Theertha, junior seer Sri Vidya Rajeshwara Theertha, Sri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha of Sode Math, Sri Vidya Sagara Theertha of Krishnapur Math and Sri Vidya Vallabha Theertha of Kaniyoor Math took part in the meditation.

Senior seer of Adamaru Math Sri Vishwa Priya, Sri Vishwa Prasanna Theertha of Kunjaru Bana Theertha Math and Pejawar Math held meditation in the Goshaala of Neelavar. Priests and personnel of Sri Krishna Math were inside the math and involed themselves in chanting of mantras and meditation.

Math sources informed that the Abhisheka that takes place at 5.30 am will take place at 2.30 pm and the Mangalarati Puja of the afternoon will be held at 5 pm.
