Mangaluru, Jun 22: Taking forward India's global initiative to create health consciousness through popularising the ancient Indian system of yoga, city based Land Trades Builders & Developers observed International Yoga Day on Sunday June 21 at two of its prestigious projects, Solitaire and Sai Grandeur.

Acting on the initiative taken by the prime minister Narendra Modi, United Nations had designated June 21 as International Yoga Day through a special resolution dated December 11, 2014. June 21 was selected by Prime Minister Modi because it marks the longest day of the year in the entire northern hemisphere (summer solitice). Summer Solitice the longest day of the year in the mass northern hemispher, having significance in different parts of the world. From the perspective of yoga, the summer solitice marks the transition to Dakshinayana. International Yoga Day is being celebrated with great fervour all over the world since 2015.

Land Trades decided to observe International Yoga Day at its projects especially in view of its immense potential to boost bodily immunity in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

"At Land Trades we care for the well-being of our customers. After lockdown the residents of apartments promoted by us have been forced to remain indoors and live sedentary lives, which reduces immunity. Hence we decided to observe International Yoga Day to impart awareness of authentic yoga practices under the guidance of expert proponents of yoga," said Shrinath Hebbar, managing director of Land Trades.

The day began with a demo session in yoga at Sai Grandeur apartments which was inaugurated by the Apartment Association president, Prof Vrashabharaj Jain. He also delivered the vote of thanks.

The yoga demonstration and participatory session was conducted by Dr Mahabala Punchathodi who informed the benefits of yoga and guided the audience on various simple yoga techniques. He also inspired the residents by giving a live demonstration of some of his advanced yoga skills.

Thereafter the yoga session was also conducted at project Solitaire, Hat Hill. Welcome note and the vote of thanks was given by Cany Mendonca, DGM-marketing, Land Trades.

The residents of both apartments, including women and youth enthusiastically participated in the yoga sessions and expressed happiness over the event.
