Udupi, Jun 24: A team of Lokayukta officials raided different government offices on Monday to check on the implementation of rules governing coronavirus control. The raid was led by Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police, Bhaskar V B. The team wanted to check how far the corona control measures are being implemented in the district, in view of increasing number of COVID 19 cases in the state.

The team which visited the municipal office found that rules are being violated. The staff on duty were not maintaining social distance. No other rules except the presence of sanitizer at the entrance were followed. The team which expressed anger at this state of the office, took the officials to task.

The scene at the taluk office was no different. The office staff and officers were not wearing masks. Even though there is a rule making it compulsory to record the people going in and coming out, no such register was maintained. At the office canteen in the same comlpound too, no hygiene and social distance rules were followed.

The sub-registrar's office also was seen to have thrown the rules to the wind. The people had crowded together instead of maintaining social distance. The Lokayukta officials turned livid at the officials for failing to advise the people suitably.

The team also visited APMC market in the city, apart from some hotels, electronic shops, bars and restaurants etc. They warned the entities overlooking social distance and government rules of cancelling their licences.
