Mangaluru: Notorious criminal wanted in several cases held

Mangaluru, Jul 16: Shammi alias Shamir Katipalla (30) who reportedly is wanted by the police in several cases of robbery, assault, accident etc, was arrested by the police on Wednesday July 15. It is said that he is involved with over ten cases and was evading arrest.

The arrest was made by the anti-rowdy police team of Panambur led by assistant police commissioner Belliappa, along with members of Panambur police station.

Allegedly, Shamir used to attack the drivers of lorries coming to Panambur port, rob them, and run away. He also faces the charge of launching a murderous attack on an assistant sub-inspector of police with a rod. He also had driven away after his vehicle hit a two-wheeler at Benjanapadavu. Several warrants had been issued for his arrest by courts but he had remained elusive.

On Wednesday, the police got a clue about his hideout and arrested him by going there.
