Udupi, Jul 21: Malpe station police arrested three suspects for stealing boat batteries from two fisheries' boats anchored at Malpe port.

The arrested suspects are Kodavoor V B Road resident Al Muheeta(20), Balaram Nagar resident Adarsh (19) and Vadabhandeswhar resident Yasin (18). A complaint of the theft was registered at Malpe police station. The value of the stolen batteries was approximately Rs 46,000.

Police team under the leadership of PSI Thimmesh arrested the suspects who were wandering about suspiciously in a Ritz car at Kalyadi junction. The suspects confessed during questioning that they had stolen the batteries.

Police personnel recovered four batteries worth Rs 46,000 and seized the KA21 M7491 Ritz car that was used for the thefts.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of PSI Thimmesh B N by Malpe ASI Sudhaker, Jayarama, Rathnaker, Shashidhar, Praveen, Santhosh, Vikram Baretto, Chetan Pitrodi, Raviraj, Sadananda, Manjunath and jeep driver Mahabali under guidance from DSP Vishnuvardhan, additional SP Kumarchandra, Jaishanker, SP Udupi subdivision and Udupi circle police inspector Manjunath.
