Mandya, Jul 22: Alleging that he has become a victim of injustice as his name was purposefully not included in the list of loan waiver scheme beneficiaries, a farmer climbed a mobile tower here on Tuesday, July 21. He threatened to jump down to death if his demand for loan waiver was not met.

The farmer in question has been identified as B S Mohan from Bidaramolekoppalu village in Maddur taluk. The farmer's threat gave rise to an environment of tension in the area. Even though the police and fire personnel tried their best to convince him to come down, the farmer refused. In the end, three fire department personnel went up the tower and succeeded in bringing the farmer down. Hundreds of people who gathered at the site watched the proceeding with amusement and tension.

Mohan said that he was kept out of the purview of the loan waiver scheme relating to his loan with Bekkalale primary cooperative society in Maddur taluk. He alleged that his name was purposefully kept out and that he had taken up this issue with the department of cooperation and the government but no steps were taken to redress his complaint. He also said that the society did not issue him loan passbook and share certificate. "I legally fought against this injustice but I failed to get justice," he claimed.

Finally, he handed over a letter addressed to the chief minister, seeking punishment to the persons who are responsible for this injustice, through the district superintendent of police.
