Udupi, Mar 13: Dr Vasant Kumat Taltaje, retired head of department of Kannada, Bombay University, inaugurated ‘Muddana Sahityotsava’, organized at M G M College in the city on the morning of Saturday March 13.

Speaking on the occasion, Taltaje pointed out that the works of Muddana radiate creativity and the quality of analytical examination in ample measure. He said that even the Yakshagana episodes written by Muddana have beautiful poetic qualities and excellent prose.  He pressed for undertaking the work of evaluating the works of Muddana afresh, to add potential to and strengthen the quality of present-day literature.

Administrative officer of the Academy of General Education, H Shantaram, presided. MGM College principal, Dr Venkataramana Gowda and MGM PU College principal, Malati Devi were present.

Renowned humorists from Bangalore, M S Narasimha Murty and Y V Gundu Rao presented the ‘Hasyotsava’ programme, drawing appreciation and applause from the audience.
