Udupi, Aug 5: Due to the prohibitory order by the district administration, there was no celebration in the city. People in shops lit lamps in front of their shops.

Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal were disappointed by the prohibition order passed by the district administration.

Sunil K R said, "This day is a historical day for the Hindu society. The whole Hindu society celebrates this day as a feast. It is a 500-year long fight for which lakhs of volunteers have sacrificed their lives. We have chanted Rama Taraka mantra around Sri Krishna math. Our team conducted various activities in various places. We have given instructions to host Bhagadvaja in front of houses.

“We are disappointed that some legal matter is disturbing the celebration of this day in a big way. So we curbed a few programmes to support the government, but I hope people will celebrate at their homes”.
