Kalaburagi: Coronavirus infection takes away life of staff nurse

Kalaburagi, Aug 7: A 40-year-old staff nurse attached to Yalasangi primary health centre in Aland taluk, who was infected with coronavirus, lost her battle for life on Thursday August 6.

She happens to be the first health department employee to die due to coronavirus infection. She had suffered from fever a few days back and had got herself some tablets from the health centre. As the fever relapsed, she had got herself tested and her result was positive. She was under treatment and breathed her last after six days of treatment.

Srikanthaswamy, district unit president of the State Health and Medical Education Department Contract and Outsourced Workers Association, expressing anger at the development, held negligence of health officials as responsible for the demise of the staff nurse. He demanded employment to a member of the deceased employee's family and sought immediate disbursement of Rs 50 lac insurance amount as announced by the central government.
