Bangalore, Mar 16: MP and former state president of the BJP, D V Sadanand Gowda, accused former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda, of trying to cover up his follies and creating an illusion of fighting against Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) project with the support of the farmers, with an eye on the coming Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) election.
Addressing a meeting of the state BJP office bearers organized on Sunday March 14 in a private hotel on the outskirts of the city, he expressed the confidence that the people will see through Gowda’s plans and teach him a fitting lesson in the election. “Who was responsible for granting land to NICE at the rate of ten rupees per acre?” he questioned, saying that Gowda, who was responsible for entrusting the contract of the Bangalore-Mysore corridor project to NICE, has now been heaping baseless allegations against the BJP government, knowing fully well that the state government had no hand in the deal.
He also exhorted the office bearers to wholeheartedly work for the organizational interest of the party, for ensuring that the schemes of the government reach the people and to do groundwork for the ensuing gram panchayat, cooperative society and legislative council elections. He hailed the selflessness shown by Eshwarappa in forgoing his ministerial berth for strengthening the party by taking up organizational responsibilities in the capacity of the party’s state president.
State president of the party, K S Eshwarappa, Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, national general secretary of the party, Anant Kumar etc., participated in the meeting. The office bearers were asked to dedicatedly work to ensure an overwhelming victory for the party in the BBMP election.
