Sullia, Aug 24: In a strange incident, an aged woman, who the doctors said was on the verge of breathing her last, recovered when being taken home. As such, her funeral preparations were put on hold.

Hemavahi Rai (80), who had fallen sick, was admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru. She had later slipped into coma. The doctors had said that she might not survive for long and that she might live only for a short while after the oxygen pipe was removed. As such, the family members got her discharged from the hospital and started their journey by an ambulance to Markanja. Simultaneously, preparations for the lady's cremation were taken up in full swing at Markanja village.

But when the ambulance was near Melkar, the lady not only coughed, but within minutes thereafter, showed signs of further recovery. The family was contacted and asked to keep the funeral preparations in abeyance. The lady is recovering at her home now.
