Udupi, Aug 31: A deadly assault was carried out on the Hotel Ashlesh supervisor, Avinash Pai by a gang in the hotel's car parking late at night on Sunday, August 30.

Avinash Pai had earlier lodged a complaint against the accused men Mahan Rao, Akshay V K, Pavan Raj, Parkala residents Mavil, Amith, Rakshit Prakash and others of standing in the hotel parking lot.

The men who grew resentful because of Avinash's act had then decided to take revenge. On Sunday midnight Avinash Pai was walking towards his motorcycle parked near T C Park to return home after work. During this time, Mahan Rao and Akshay V K walked towards him and allegedly held his shirt collar, hand and pulled him to the hotel's car parking lot. The men then threatened him for complaining against them to the police. While Mahan Rao tried to choke Avinash, Akshay V K slapped him. Meanwhile, Mavil, Ravi Adiga, Pavan Raj, Amith, Rakshit and Prakash held the victim tightly against a Ritz car. Mahan then allegedly hit Avinash on the head with a stick causing Avinash to drop on the ground. The men then kicked and hit Avinash hard with the stick and reportedly tried to kill him. The gang then fled the scene of the crime on a bike bearing the registration number KA20 EN5891 and another two-wheeler, when Sathish and security guard John arrived there.

A police case in this connection has been registered in Manipal police station under serial number 134/2020 under section 143, 145, 147, 148, 149 and 307 IPC.
