Raichur, Sep 7: A retired teacher of an aided school who says that he is fed up by the discriminatory policies of the government has written to the President of India seeking permission for euthanasia. He says he has not been able to carry on with his life.

The teacher had recently retired after serving the government employees' housing board cooperative society's higher primary school. The teacher in question Sangayya Swamy Soppimath said that the teachers of schools which were bought under the government aid after 2006 have been facing multifarious problems. He said that even after a year of retirement, he and other teachers of aided schools like him have been unable to encash their earned leave. He pointed out that in respect of government school teachers, this is sanctioned within ten days.

"I had written to education minister Suresh Kumar on June 14, 2020. bringing to his notice this anomaly. The minister had promised to address the problem but so far nothing has been done. Therefore, I request you to permit me for euthanasia," the teacher requested in his letter.
