Mangaluru, Sep 8: Known for its culture and tradition, various religious festivals have been celebrated in the coastal belt of Dakshina Kannada. Respecting nature, Thene Habba is celebrated by Hindus and Christians as well. Christians celebrate Thene Habba as part of Monthi Fest, while the Hindu community celebrates it during Ganesh Chaturthi.

Hebert D'Souza, a resident of Jeppinamogaru extended a kind gesture by distributing free paddy grown in his paddy field during the festivals of the Hindu and Christain communities.

For several years, Herbert specially cultivates paddy during the festival and distributes it to several temples and churches in Mangaluru during the Monthi Fest and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals.

The paddy which is cultivated is used for a divine purpose. In order to maintain its purity, Herbert has put up a fence around the field which restricts the entry of people and animals. The general public loads heaps of praise on Herbert D'Souza who shows goodwill to all religions and maintains unity.
