Kolar: Raid on rowdy's brother's house yields ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore

Kolar, Sep 9: The police who raided a house at Marikuppam in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in the district, recovered ganja worth over Rs 1.5 crore. A person also was arrested in this connection.

The police, acting on a tip-off that a huge stock of ganja had been collected at a house in Krishnagiri Extension at KGF, found ganja stored in a house. The residence where the drug was found belongs to Palraj, brother of notorious rowdy, Tangam. While one person was arrested during the raid, the other fled from the scene.

During the raid, the police found over 185 kg of ganja leaves packed in gunny bags.

The police also raided a building next to Ramakunta Road in the town and recovered 32 kg ganja worth about Rs 10 lac. They arrested Shankar (38) from Tamballapalli in Chittoor district, and Shahbaz (30), a resident of Shidlaghatta in Chikkaballapur district. A car used for ganja peddling was also seized.
