Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 14: Several areas in Sullia, Puttur, Beltangady and Bantwal taluks of Dakshina Kannada district and some places in Udupi district got good rains coupled with storm on the night of Monday and early morning on Tuesday April 13.

Because of strong breeze and lightning, power supply was disrupted in a number of areas in the coast. Although Konaje, Pavoor and Harekala in Mangalore taluk got rains, the rains remained elusive in the city.

In Kasargod too, rains lashed most parts of the district since midnight on Monday to Tuesday morning. As a few trees fell on the electric cables, power supply was snapped at several places. Heavy downpour inflicted heavy losses in Koppa taluk of Chikmagalur district. Banana plantations bore the brunt of the storm and rains.
