Bengaluru: Liquor sales show increase from May to September

Bengaluru, Oct 2: Compared to the corresponding period of last year, the income from the sale of liquor to the state exchequer is less. However, in the period of May to September, the sales have shown slight rise.

Last year during the period of May to September, the income was Rs 10,880 crore. This year around it is Rs 9,518 crore. So there is a deficit of Rs 1,362 crore.

Due to lockdown, there was no sale of liquor from March to May this year. Then for the months of May, June, July, August and September the income from sales of liquor is Rs 1,397 crore, Rs 2,549 crore, Rs 1,904 crore, Rs 1,830 crore and Rs 1,936 crore respectively.

According to officials of excise department 249.49 lac boxes of IMFL is sold. The reduction in income from sale of liquor in the state is attributed to the coronavirus pandemic by the excise officials.
