Villa Goal Sends Spain Through to Quarter-finals

IANS

Cape Town, Jun 30: David Villa scored again and Spain booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Portugal at the Green Point stadium Tuesday.

Villa became the tournament's joint top-scorer when he netted his fourth goal of the World Cup on 63 minutes to put Spain ahead.

Ricardo Costa was sent off for elbowing Joan Capdevila with one minute left as the European Champions held on to send Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal home.

Spain will now play Paraguay Saturday at Ellis Park in Johannesburg in the World Cup's fourth, and final, quarter-final.
