Bantwal, Jul 8: Bantwal circle inspector, Nanjunde Gowda, announced at a press conference held here on Wednesday July 7, that his team has succeeded in arresting a woman and the person who was hired to kill Manjunath from Mysore, who was found bleeding by the roadside here on July 4.

Nagaratna (42) was frustrated at the ways of R C Manjunath, brother of her husband and a resident of Krishnamurtypuram in Mysore, who used to act like a mentally retarded person and create nuisances for the family members. Manjunath’s wife had divorced him some time back. Manjunath was jailed for a few months, after his elder sister filed a police complaint about the harassment meted out to the family by him.

Even before Manjunath was released from jail, Nagaratna entered into an agreement with Abdul Jabbar, working as driver for Sharma Travels Bangalore, to eliminate Manjunath, and this action had the support of other family members. Jabbar was paid Rs 20,000 for the same. Nagaratna and Jabbar came to Mysore on July 2 night, and as soon as Manjunath was released from jail, he was asked to accompany the duo for Dharmasthala pilgrimage. After failing in his attempts to kill Manjunath on the way, Jabbar stabbed him, making use of the opportunity, when Manjunath got down to relieve himself at B C Road. The vehicle was driven taken to Bangalore, the policemen said.

Bantwal station house officer, Vivekanand, and the other police personnel, followed the clues provided by the injured, and succeeded in taking into possession the Tata Sumo vehicle and the knife, involved with the incident.
