Mangalore: Soft Skill Training Programme for Nurses Held

Mangalore Jul 14: Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 held a workshop on soft skill training programme for nurse staff at Wenlock Hospital in the city on Wednesday July 14.

Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj inaugurated the programme and said that the programme brought has thrown light into the problems faced by the hospital in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. The government hospitals in DK such as District Wenlock Hospital are in a good position on par with any national level hospitals. One has to just work towards the best with patients being happy with the treatment and the rest of the support as in infrastructure will be provided to the hospital by the government, he assured.



He was happy with the gesture of the ladies circle which has been striving hard from the past eight years and worked towards providing a helping hand to the underprivileged children and destitute women.

Addressing the gathering, Dr B Shantaram Baliga said when all the hospitals fail to treat patients as the last resort people come to the Wenlock hospital, yet the negative side of the hospital is being highlighted. Such kind of programmes will help nurses learn etiquette and be kind to patients.

Speaking to Daijiworld Dr Baliga said such programmes should be taken up by every hospital and the doctors too are in need of a similar kind of programme that will make them aware of the human values, which is not taught in most of the the colleges at present.

Prretham Kamath was the trainer and Carol Pais Coelho was the assistant trainer of the programme. Present chairperson Sonali Mathias, incoming chairperson Preethi Pinto, Latha D’Souza, Naina Fernandes and Sunanda Mascarenhas deom ladies circle 82 Dr Saroja from Wenlock and Wenlock matron Sunanda Boloor were present.
