Bangalore, Jul 15: Students of the state, who aspire to pursue career in medicine, have reasons to feel happy and relaxed. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has cleared the hurdles that were encountered in selecting candidates for medical courses in four government-run medical colleges in the state.

The board of directors of MCI, which was newly formed recently, has also cleared the way for fifty additional medical seats each in Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli and S S Institute of Medical Sciences, Davanagere. The students will now be able to choose these seats in the casual round of Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling.

The earlier board of MCI had pruned down the availability of medical seats in the state in the past, without assigning any reasons, giving rise to confusions and postponement of CET counselling.

Accordingly, government-run Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences, Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences, and Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, will now be able to offer 100 medical seats each, to the interested students this year.
