Gay Porn Star Claims Affair with Christopher Reeve

London, Jul 24 (IANS): "Superman" star Christopher Reeve had a gay affair with late porn star Cal Culver, a book has revealed.

Culver, who died in 1987, said that Reeve was not gay but was "willing to try anything once", says the book Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again. He alleged he had a two-month affair with the star which left Reeve "liberated", reports dailymail.co.uk.

The book contains Culver's interviews that he did for his autobiography, which was never published.

He said he met Reeve when they auditioned for a role on Broadway in the mid-1970s and that he was "the man of my dreams".

According to Culver, who appeared in 1971 gay porn film "Boys In The Sand", he shared a passionate two-month long affair with Reeve. Their relationship ended when Reeve found out that Culver was a gay porn star performing under the name Casey Donovan.

"Christopher was a great lover and I think I liberated him sexually. I didn't think he was gay but he seemed willing to try anything once. He was curious," Culver said in the now published interview.

Darwin Porter, who has co-written the book, said: "I have no doubt this was legit - I knew Cal for years and at one stage we even lived next to each other. He was a very credible source and all the other stories he has told me checked out.

"Christopher Reeve was a very liberated man and this fits in with what I knew about him and how I knew him."

Although Reeve was best known as Superman, he did once share a screen kiss with Michael Caine in the 1982 film "Deathtrap".

Reeve died in 2004 of heart failure.
