Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Faces Police Complaint

Gurgaon, Jul 31 (IANS): Organisers of a live concert of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have filed a police complaint against the singer for his failure to turn up for a show Saturday in Delhi's neighbouring Gurgaon town due to visa problems, police said.

"The show was scheduled in sector 29 and the tickets were sold. The organisers got to know yesterday (Friday) that the singer couldn't come to perform as he did not get the visa. They filed a complaint with us," said a senior Gurgaon police official.

"We are looking at the complaint and will see what action can be taken," the official said.

The singer's manager has also been named in the complaint, police said. The organisers, Trzy Events, was forced to call off the concert due to the singer's unavailability.

"We have suffered a huge loss. As many as 3,000 tickets were sold," said one of the organisers.

The tickets were priced at Rs.2,000, Rs.1,500 and Rs.1,000. The organisers have decided to return the money to the audience.

Sources said that the singer called the organisers Friday evening and said he won't be able to make it. "He said that his travel permission was till Mumbai only and he could not come to Delhi," a representative of the organisers said.
