Gulbarga, Aug 6 (The Hindu): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said here on Thursday that a convention of Bhagyalakshmi scheme beneficiaries would be held in all district headquarters in two months.

“The Government will also provide an identity card to the mother and the child for free medical treatment in government hospitals,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.
Such conventions would be held in all district headquarters initially and later extended to taluk headquarters. The conventions would be held every year, the Chief Minister said.
He said that Congress leaders by their provocative actions had helped the BJP in explaining to the people their designs and highlighting the achievements of the State Government.
Yeddyurappa Chief Minister accused the Congress leaders of conspiring to create law and order problem and foment violence during their padayatra.
He warned that “the State Government will not be silent spectator to all these …. The State police have been directed to keep a close vigil on the situation and deal firmly with trouble-makers.”
The Chief Minister said that a desperate Congress was doing all it could to destabilise the Government. The padayatra was announced by Siddaramaiah to save his position as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly after senior leaders started a campaign to unseat him citing his “failures.”
Listing the achievements of the BJP Government in the State, Mr. Yeddyurappa challenged the Congress to highlight any action of the Government that went against the interests of the backward classes and the oppressed sections of society.
Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Naik Belamagi, Tourism Minister G. Janardhan Reddy, and Rajya Sabha member K.B. Shanappa were among others who spoke at the meet.
Former BJP president Rajnath Singh inaugurated the convention.
