Mangalore: A B Shetty Institute Hosts Orthodontics Workshop

Mangalore, Aug 6: A two-day workshop on ‘Efficient and Effective Orthodontics Treatments Mechanics’ organised by the department of orthodontics and the alumni of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was inaugurated at Hotel Gateway here on Friday August 6.

Dr Ashima Valiathan inaugurated the programme and wished the doctors all success in their service to the public.

N Vinay Hegde, chancellor of NITTE University, in his inaugural speech, said that the department has done great service to society and the quality of orthodontics treatments is excellent but the time taken for the treatments can be long and this has to change.

“Doctors should record past treatments and select the best methods and must use modern equipment, thus sustaining quality of the treatment. Such seminars will help the doctors discuss new techniques and improve the quality of treatment,” he added.

'Clinical Orthodontics - Current Concepts, Goals, and Mechanics’, written by Dr Ashok Karad, was released by Hegde on the occasion and the author was honoured with an appreciation certificate.

Organizing secretary Dr M N Kuttappa proposed the vote of thanks.

Prof Dr Rajendra Prasad, principal and dean, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr Ashok Karad, and Dr A Santhosh Shetty were present.

Dr U S Krishna Nayak welcomed the gathering while Dr Crystal Soans compered.
