Mangaluru, May 3: A group of residents from Bejai Kapikad were in for a shock when they discovered some animal eggs in their vicinity. They reached out to zoophilist Tausif assuming that they were snake eggs that were laid in an empty compound. Upon reaching the location, Tausif maintained that it is not very easy to discover snake eggs and therefore believed it could have been peacock eggs.

Speaking about the experience, Tausif said,  "It was raining heavily and fearing damage to eggs, I rushed to the spot. At the first sight of the eggs, I knew they were snake eggs, more specifically python eggs. Behind a thick bush, it was likely that the mother snake found refuge and laid eggs. But someone set fire to the heap without noticing the eggs. Luckily there were not harmed."

"Carefully all the eggs were retrieved and placed in a box. 16 were intact and one was damaged. I thanked the residents before leaving as the eggs would have been disposed of in any other situation. I soon informed RFO Sridhar, who told me to take it to Pilikula," he added.

"I met an individual identified as Dinesh who takes care of the reptiles at Pilikula. I handed him over the eggs and immediate arrangements were made for artificial incubation where the eggs will be kept for a few days before they hatch," Tausif said.
