Bantwal, Aug 13: A two-day state level symposium on the need of ‘Sanskrit literature’ was inaugurated at S V S College here on Thursday August 12.

Dr Mallepuram Venkatesh, vice chancellor of Karnataka Sanskrit University inaugurated. Speaking on the occasion, he said that in the ancient times of Veda, there existed a far-sighted solution to various issues.  The need of the hour is to explore the treasure trove of knowledge in ancient literatures of Sanskrit, which has come under the onslaught of modernity, he said.

The Union government has been spending a lot of amount on translations of various scriptures and the Karnataka Sanskrit University has also been striving in this regard.  Besides, it has been promoting classical studies, regional activities, quality education and opening Sanskrit schools in the state, he added.

Dr G N Bhat, Dr P Narasimhamurti, Dr H R Vishwas, Ganesh Hobali, Dr K Krishnamurti and Dr M K Sridar presented their papers on the occasion.

S V S College principal Dr Sitaram Mayya welcomed the gathering.  The co-ordinator Vinayak P Shankaralinga delivered the introductory address.  Vice principal M Leelavati proposed the vote of thanks. Lecturer Sridar compered the programme.

Kolar Government Pre-University College principal Dr T N Prabhakar, Bantwal Sanskrit Parishat president Dr B Vasant Baliga and the convener, S V S College lecturer P Ganesh Prabhu among others were present.
