Udupi: Krishna Math to Celebrate Ashtami with Cultural, Photography Competitions

Various cultural and games competitions will be held at Sri Krishna Math here under the auspices of Shiroor and Krishna Maths from Monday August 23 to Thursday September 2, on account of Krishna Jayanti and Vittla Pindi Utsav, said Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor Math.

Addressing media persons at Krishna Math here on Monday August 16, Swami Laxmivarateerta said that the programme will be inaugurated with a religious discourse by Swami Vishwapriyateerta of Adamar Math.

State additional chief secretary K Jayaraj will attend the programme. Over 50 varieties of laddu will be prepared on the occasion of Sri Krishna Jayanti, added Swami Laxmivarateerta. For the first time, competition on making clay idol of Sri Krishna will be held for the children. Besides, cultural programmes will be held every day, said Swami Laxmivarateerta.

The grand puja celebrations will be held on Krishna Jayanti, Wednesday September 1 at 11.50 pm. Sri Krishna Leelotsav, musical concert by world renowned drummer Shivamani, folk dance competition and stilt-walking will be held on Thursday September 2.


State-level Photography Competition

A state-level photography competition titled 'Spirit of Sri Krishna Janmashtami' will also be organised as part of Sri Krishna Jayanti by Udupi Press Photographers’ Association (UPPA) in collaboration with Shiroor Math.

The prize distribution function will be held on Friday September 3.

Sri Krishna Math dewan Latavya Acharya, Gurudut Kamat, Dr Pradeep Varnekar, and Eshwar Shetty Chitpady were present.
