Kasargod, Aug 17: Karnataka has accused Kerala government of not extending cooperation to it in the matter of arresting PDP leader, Abdul Nasser Madani, accused of having a role in the serial blasts that occurred in Bangalore.

Bangalore joint police commissioner, Alok Kumar, and deputy commissioner of police, Omkaraiah, discussed the issue with Kollam district superintendent of police, Harshita Attaluri on the issue. They clarified to her that they cannot wait anymore, as the deadline prescribed by the court for Madani’s arrest is drawing nearer. In a statement issued on Monday August 16, Karnataka home minister, Dr V S Acharya, expressed his dissatisfaction at the failure of Kerala government in helping the two senior police officers deputed for arresting Madani, in their task. He said that his government will explore other alternatives, if the attitude of Kerala government does not change. He also expressed his displeasure at the fact that Madani failed to keep his promise of surrendering before a court.

Speaking in Kannur, Kerala home minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, dismissed the charge levelled by Acharya.

In the meanwhile, a team of doctors from a private hospital checked the health of Madani. Hospital chief cardiologist, Dr Gopalakrishna Bhat, informed reporters that Madani’s ECG report is normal and his heart has been functioning well.

In the meanwhile, Abdul Nasser Madani has approached the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the order for his arrest.  His advocate, Adolph Mathew, said that the case is expected to be listed for hearing on Tuesday August 17.

It is truely unfortunate that politicians can get away with anything. Kerala Government's lack of cooperation is not surprising given that PDF was an ally of CPM. Madani may not have any thing to do with Bangalore blast, but it should be decided by the court. Compare the mute reactions from intellectuals, communists and congressmen against this with the over the top coverage for similar incident in Gujarath recently where Modi government tried to protect one of its MLA. So tomorrow Togadia and the like can go to Gujarath even if there is a warrant against them and nobody should complain.
