Mangaluru: Essential shops to remain open till 1 pm from June 21

Mangaluru, Jun 20: The district administration on Sunday June 20 announced that beginning Monday June 21, shops selling essential items will remain open from 7 am to 1 pm.

Till now, under the current lockdown restrictions, shops were allowed to function only till 9 am, with one hour of grace time to allow people to return to their homes.

From Monday onwards, shops selling essential items such as groceries, meat and dairy will remain open till 1 pm. This will also apply to roadside vendors.

An order issued by the deputy commission Dr K V Rajendra on Sunday stated that ration shops and standalone wine shops and shops that allow take-aways will be allowed to remain open till 1 pm. Optical shops are also allowed.

The DC however added that people should stay home as much as possible and switch to home delivery services.

Manufacturing units, industrial establishments and factories can function with 50 percent staff capacity while textile manufacturing is allowed with 30 percent staff.

Cement, steel and construction industry will be allowed to function provided Covid protocols are strictly followed.

While bus services are still prohibited, taxis and auto rickshaws can ply with maximum two passengers.

Agricultural and related departments, PWD, housing, regional transport, cooperative and NABARD and revenue departments will continue to function with 50 percent staff.

Parks and gardens will remain closed for public. Weekend curfew from Friday 7 pm to Monday 7 am, and night curfew from 7 pm to 7 am will continue as usual.

The guidelines will remain in place till July 5, the DC stated, urging citizens to follow Covid protocols strictly and not to venture out of their homes unnecessarily.

    People sitting in AC office doesn't understand the poor and middle class suffer. The DC MLA or minister have enforced lockdown in Mangalore when 90 percent of karnataka is open. Never to vote for this party. Nota best option

Of course people should pay due attention to the fact THAT SELF-PROTECTION is essential. The General Public should realize that that The D.C. Mr. K. Rajendra is trying to help The Public .     The timings permitted for opening of shops under Lock down I is upto 2 p. M. But as per D. C s orders shops have to be clised by 1 p. m. Thus one hour of precious time is lost for citizens. The same kind of trend was observed during the recent full lock down. As per the govt. Orders essential shops like grocery out lets etc. were suppised to be open up to 10 a. M. However in D. K. District they were being closed by 9 p. M again curtailing 1 hour of citizens time for shopping etc. One fails to comprehend the logic behind this 1 hour early norm in D. K District. May be that is the packing time for the shop keepers.

    Some good learned advocate should file a PIL probably under section 12 Disaster Management Act ( iii.restoration of means of livelihood, and iv.such other relief as may be necessary) that govt. failed to prevent entry of the virus in our country from abroad, the entry points including airports were not sealed or restricted in January 2019 when the virus had already left China in search of greener pastures, this amounts to sheer negligence,compounded by unscientific calls like banging thalis and lockdown ,which has caused immense loss financial and other grave problems to the citizens of the country and each individual should be financially compensated (?15 lakhs). Only then these unscientific lockdowns will stop.

    I am an engineering final year Student. My phone was damaged before the lockdown which i gave it to repair with the sim. Next day suddenly there was an order to close the shops in bunder following the lockdown next day. Now the job applications, interview, registration that i applied for are useless! This illogical lockdown might end not only mine but many people's lives!

    The DC should allow all shops to remain open between 7am and 1 pm. Mobile shops,Watch repairs,Household utensils,Stationary/Book shops,Photo copying shops all are required by different sections of society. Students find it very difficult to cope up with online classes... The onus should be on the Shop owner to maintain Covid protocol. The longer the shops are kept open ..the lesser crowding at the shops.... In fact the Authorities should Fine people not wearing their Mask...

    Now the ball is in peoples court. Despite 2 months of illogical lockdowns and depriving people to earn their livelihood this govt has failed its citizens without paying any compensation they have shown Nazi mentality of starvation and suffering of majority of people. Again no waiver of any taxes, electricity bills and interests due on any loans raised by businesses. Now people have only one option to end this planndemic hoax tyranny by uniting and conveying to the govt they have had enough, they no longer want the govt to take care of them or their health, people Will take care of themselves and govts should keep away from acting like saviors but helping crony capitalists with fuel loot at this time too, No more Tyranny and freedom to work and earn is our fundamental right which no govt has the right to take away as ALL JOBS & WORK ARE ESSENTIAL FOR EACH & EVERYONE. Only people should decide any actions for their welfare as the govt has failed to in all its actions for a cold like viral infection with recovery rate of same or less dangerous than seasonal flu .

    The well intentioned people who ran the govt after 1947 turned India into a “Nanny state”(socialist) following in the footsteps of the USSR. The well intentioned govt. told the people: we will run everything for you, you just sit back and enjoy the ride. In doing this, the govt. totally lost sight of its most essential primary function which is rule of law and justice. That was the beginning of the end of freedom for the citizens of newly independent India. We all know what will happen if we close our eyes and allow our employees or advisors to run our finances without having any means to monitor or hold them accountable by way of independent checks and balances. Unless every citizen of India wakes up and understands that he is the King and the govt. is his servant(i mean this in the most derogatory sense as almost all our govt. employees and representatives deserve no respect at all) , he will keep bowing to his servants who will control his life like a puppet on a string. Every single person needs to understand what liberty and individual freedom means. The law –Frederic Bastiat ; Wealth of Nations – Adam Smith; Rights of Man – Thomas Paine.

    It does not make any sense not to allow buses and declare that manufacturing units can work with 50% capacity. Even shops to open till 1 pm is meaningless if buses are not there. Not all people can travel in Autos or taxis. On one side you call it a lockdown and on other side the roads are crowded with private cars. In fact more traffic jams than earlier. How will this DC control Covid if the rules are not implemented strictly? Perhaps DC is busy declaring red alerts and yellow alerts. Someone should educate him that Mangalore is a rain prone region and we need better drainage than red alerts every now and then.

    This is vikas. Only those who can afford to have a car, vehicle, or can afford pay for auto or taxi will be allowed to live. Others can go get damned. If they don't get proper nutrition they will be more susceptible to more infections which can then be passed off as covid/corona. What do you and I know about medical things? Whatever they say most people blindly believe because of "jeevada aase".

    They are under lockdown from more than month. If at all successful, today active cases should be zero but DK active cases 6000?? So no much use of lockdown. Virus is still active during essential items shopping as well as in non covid care hospitals, vaccination centers, crowded places etc. And government cannot control that
