Mangalore, Sep 8: A woman riding on the pillion of a motor bike lost her life, after an Eicher truck, being driven recklessly, hit the motor bike from behind at around 8 pm on Tuesday September 7. The accident occurred near the NITK Hostel in Suratkal on national highway 17.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sharada, wife of Gurumurty. Gurumurty (35), who was riding the motor bike, suffered grave injuries and was rushed to a hospital. Gurumurty, a resident of Kandige near Pavanje, runs an electronic shop in Haleangady. He was moving towards his home from Suratkal. He had married two years ago.
The truck sped away. After the information was conveyed to them, the policemen took the truck into custody at Bappanad near Mulky.
