Kalaburagi, Jul 8: Deputy chief minister (DCM) and transport minister Laxman Savadi, said that just like the renaming of Hyderabad Karnataka as Kalyana Karnataka, the state government has renamed North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) as Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation.

He was speaking to media persons after unveiling the mobile toilet for women, and the bus with facility to feed small babies, at the central bus stand here on Wednesday.

He regretted the problems through which the transport department had to go through because of the problems created by coronavirus infection. He asserted that at any cost, the staff will not be made scapegoats. He revealed that shortly, electricity-driven buses will be run under this corporation with a grant of four crore rupees from KKRDB (Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board). He revealed that all arrangements for the same have been made already.
