Udupi: Rotary Shirva Holds Guruvandana, Honours Senior Members

Udupi, Sep 8: "A teacher is the one who satiates the thirst for knowledge among students and puts in sincere efforts to do so," said Arogyamata Church parish priest Fr Stany tauro.

He was speaking at the Guruvandana programme organized by Rotary, Shirva here at Sawood auditorium, recently. He said teachers are accorded the highest respect and it is up to them to live upto the honour.

Shirva Rotary president Edwin Rodrigues presided.

Rotary senior members K R Patkar, Raghupati Aithal, Lucas D'Souza and Herala Cutinho were honoured with Paul Harris Fellow, the highest award for service in Rotary, by Dr N S Shetty and Dr K R Venkatakrishnaiah.

Lingakumar, Dr Vasudev Upadhyaya and Wilfred Gomes were inducted as new members on the occasion. Mallika, the magazine of the club too was released. Editor Shantaram Wagle was present.
