Udupi, Jul 10: Minister for forest Aravind Limbavali supported MP Sumalatha Ambarish in the tussle between former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and the MP from Mandya.

Aravind spoke to the media at the BJP office at Kadiyali in the city and said, “Both (Kumaraswamy and Sumalatha) are verbally abusing one another. I do not have any connection in this matter. However, a crack had actually developed in KRS dam. It is the duty of the state government to protect the dam. That job will be done by the irrigation department. The verbal duel between Sumalatha and Kumaraswamy is not right. Bothe have to think about it.”

When the scribes asked whether Sumalatha is left alone by all political parties, Aravind replied that she fought the election alone.

Responding on the issue of Congress supporting Congress worker who posted anti-national message on social media, Limbavali said, “Senior political leader Siddaramaiah, who had to condemn the act of the Congress worker is talking in favour of traitor. This is very unfortunate. He should withdraw his comment. There is no politics in it. Any patriotic Indian will get incited if statement against soldiers of our nation is given.”

Clarifying on the financial help given to Yakshagana artistes, Limbavali said, “During the first wave 16,000 artistes were given Rs 3,000 each as compensation. This year the age limit was reduced and we expected more beneficiaries. Though there is financial crunch in state treasury, we received 20,713 applications. We wanted more grant. We will definitely help more in coming days. The government is thinking of establishing Rangayana and Rangamandira in every village.”
