Bengaluru, Jul 12: The state high court has served notices to the central and state governments, seeking their responses to a petition filed in the high courl that has questioned the justifiability of continuing with the rules which prevailed during the British era, and exempting Kodavas from obtaining gun licences.

Y K Chetan, resident of Galibeedu, Madikeri, who is an ex-serviceman, has filed this public interest litigation. The high court bench has asked the defendants named in the petition to send their responses to the objections raised therein.
