Mangalore, Sep 9: The Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Contractors’ Association staged a protest in front of the Zilla Panchayat office on Thursday September 9, for not being paid for projects completed in two years.

They said that despite approaching the local politicians, the concerned authorities are delaying clearing their bills under the local area development fund, MP fund, MLC local area development fund, and many other projects.

They said that they are not forcing authorities to pay for poor quality work, but those who have borrowed money for the projects are finding it difficult to repay the debts because they have not been paid for the work done.

The contractors are finding it difficult to obtain sand for government work and demanded that they be provided licenses to get sand help them work with ease as illegal transportation of sand from Mangalore to Kerala is causing them problems.
