Moodbidri: Road accident cuts short small girl's life

Moodbidri, Jul 13: A five-year-old girl was killed at Handelu on national highway 169 after a car hit her when she was crossing the road. The accident happened on Monday July 12 afternoon.

Ajma Fatima (5), daughter of Abu Swalih from Handelu near here, was the unfortunate victim of this accident. Abu Swalih, who had twin daughters, works abroad. The grandfather of the children had taken the two children with him to a nearby shop. He was returning home, duly holding the hands of the two children, when the girl suddenly escaped from the grip of the grandfather, ran away ahead, and was crossing the road, when a car coming from the direction of Mangaluru knocked the child down. The baby lost her life on the way to hospital.
