Udupi, Sep 3: “Karnataka has made a negative RT-PCR certificate mandatory for all students arriving from Kerala. The certificate should not be older than 72 hours, irrespective of vaccination status. The students should be in institutional quarantine for seven days,” said deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao.
He was speaking at the press meet held at zilla panchayat meeting hall here on Friday September 3. He said, “Anyone who visits Kerala should be under 7 days of quarantine.
“All the essential goods will be available during the weekend curfew. Water sports and water related adventure activities are not permitted.
“The government has permitted the operation of E-commerce companies and home delivery.
“Udupi has achieved good numbers in vaccination, mainly the first dose. There are 10,02,762 people above the age of 18 years. Out of them, 7,88,294 means 79% of the people who are above 18 years old have received the first dose and 2,95,011 the second dose.
“Udupi district stands first in the state in vaccination and has achieved 92%. There are still 2,14,468 people who are above 18 years, yet to receive the first dose of vaccination,” he said.
CEO of zilla panchayat Naveen Bhat said, “Udupi is receiving good vaccine supply from the last two to three days. Kavrady village panchayat in Kundapur taluk is 100% vaccinated mainly the first dose. All the healthcare workers are working cautiously and putting in sincere efforts. They are undertaking door-to-door visits to reach the vulnerable category. If all people work in the same way, we can reach our target.”
District superintendent of police Vishnuvardhan said, “We have eight check posts around the district. Another six have been installed additionally to examine the border area.”
