Mangalore: Heavy Rain Inundates Bridge at Dharmasthala

Mangalore, Oct 6: For the first time during the last about two decades, a minor bridge located near the gate of Shantivana Naturopathy Hospital got inundated as a result of heavy rains in Dharmasthala on Tuesday October 5 evening. Consequently, traffic got stranded for over an hour.

Beltangady, Alandangady and Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada district also received heavy rains on Tuesday. Power supply to these places was disrupted. Karkala and Udupi taluks also received some rains in the evening. Although the city, Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia witnessed cloudy weather and visibility was affected since early evening on Tuesday, they did not get any rains.

Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya received five cms of rain each. Lakkavalli registered 11 cms of rain, highest in the state.
