Mangalore, Oct 6: It is sad that in Western ghats, which is home for the world's most amazing flora and fauna, few of them are on the verge being extinct, observed biology lecturer Shrutakeerti Raja.

He was speaking at the Vanamahotsava celebrations held at the Sahyadri Educational Institutions campus here, recently. It is very important to preserve these flora and fauna species from extinction in order to maintain ecological balance, he said.

He planted sapling on the occasion along with pre-university (PU) college students. Bhandary Foundation chairman Manjunath Bhandary and PU college principal Naveen S A among others were present.
