Udupi, Oct 13: Teams of policemen comprising personnel of the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) and local policemen, in addition to the special squad of the superintendent of police (SP), got involved with brisk combing operations in the local areas and adjoining forest belts. The search continued all through the day and went on till late night on Tuesday October 12.

The policemen reportedly have received reliable information about the visit of a gang of naxals to Amasebail village in the district. Sources said that district SP, Pravin Madhukar Pawar, and ANF SP, Vasudev Murty, have camped in Hebri travellers’ bungalow to guide the operations. The operations also covered Siddapur and Shankarnarayana in Kundapur taluk.

The policemen or their top brass are tight-lipped about the operations although it is gathered that they plan to catch the naxals alive.
