Udupi: Policemen to Keep Naxals on Tight Leash

Udupi, Oct 14: District superintendent of police, Pravin Madhukar Pawar, said that the policemen will be continuously engaged in keeping the naxals under check. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday October 13, he said that the government has given an opportunity for the naxals to surrender.

Choosing not to give a direct reply to a question about the visit of naxals to Amasebail village, he said that those who are involed with naxal activities have been given an open invitation to surrender, and that the surrendered naxals are being offered various facilities. Revealing that 10,000 pamphlets outlining the benefits of surrending are being distributed in naxal-prone areas, he distributed sample pamphlets to the media men.

The SP thanked the people of the district for staying calm and showing maturity during the period the political scenario in the state remained tense for a few days.
