Bangalore, Oct 16: Amidst reports that mining barons, who had lost heavily due to the decision of the state government to ban iron ore exports, had funded the horse trading that had brought the state government on the brink of disaster, the government has decided to hold investigation into these allegations and bring out the truth. In all likelihood, the criminal investigation department (CID) will look into the aspects relating to the subject.

Immediately after winning the crucial trust vote twice, on Monday and Thursday, the Chief Minister had alleged that some powers had funded an attempt to topple his government, and that he plans to order an investigation into this issue.

The government is pooling whatever information it can lay its hand on, relating to this issue. The investigation may be either held through the CID or some other high level agency. The CM held consultations with home minister, R Ashok, and other senior ministers, on this issue.

The government reportedly has received clear indication that mining lobby had played a big role in an offensive launched against the government by the JDS, supported by the Congress. It is a known fact that several big miners are angry with Yeddyurappa for his action in ordering a blanket ban on ore exports from the state’s ports. The government suspects that these big miners had supported the toppling game. BJP national leader, Venkaiah Naidu, too has supported this theory.
