Mangalore: Cloistered Carmel Nuns Celebrate Feast of St Theresa of Avila

Mangalore, Oct 15: The feast of St Theresa of Avila was celebrated by the nuns of Cloistered Carmel at Kankanady here on Friday October 15.







Carmelite priests Fr Pius James D’Souza and Fr Alwyn Sequeira celebrated the festal Eucharistic Mass on Friday evening.   
 
Fr Sequeira, in his meaningful homily, explained the virtues of St Theresa of Avila which brought her sainthood.  “The virtues of growing up with daily readings of scriptures from Holy Bible in the childhood, seeking spiritual bliss to mend one’s ways, and surrender to the divine call in adolescence. Change in life will take place by embracing poverty; and growing in spirituality by contemplating on divine mysteries. The sacrifices that ought to be made throughout religious life would spread the Word of God among brethren in society”, he said.
 
A large number of faithful from the city deanery attended the festal Holy Mass.

    In this world where luxury and power are the goals of every human being, we need to re-think our priorities.
    We should honor the Nuns from the Cloistered Carmel congregation for their sacrifice and prayers for the Human race.
    May the Almighty God bless this congregation in every way
