Benglauru: BJP activist who used home minister's name for cheating arrested

Bengaluru, Nov 5: In a joint operation launched by the central crime branch and cubbon park police staiton personnel, a BJP leader who reportedly committed fraud running into lacs of rupees, was arrested on Thursday November 4. The arrested person is Bhavani Rao More (37) from Shivamogga.

More was arrested on the basis of complaint filed by Suresh from Vijayanagar here who reportedly was cheated to the extent of Rs 25 lac by More. Suresh happens to be the joint secretary of Karnataka Bar and Restaurant Owners Women Employees Cooperative Service Association.

Recently, the city police commissioner had ordered the closing down of ladies service bars in the city. The bars were closed for two days. The accused who came to know about Suresh, went to the bar run by Suresh on Residency Road here on October 23. He claimed himself to be a BJP leader from Shjivamogga and that he knows the home minister, Aragna Jnanendra, and all the ministers and BJP leaders well. He also earned Suresh's trust by showing his photos in their company. He also sought payment of Rs 1.25 crore so that he can allow him to continue to run bars without facing any problems from anyone. He also suggested him to discuss the matter with the association. Suresh collected opinions of 44 members and handed over a total sum of Rs 1.25 crore to the accused at Oakwood Hotel in UB City.

Thereafter, More changed his stance. When he was questioned in depth, he returned one crore rupees. At the same time he reportedly said arrogantly that he would not return the balance Rs 25 lac. During the questioning of the accused, the police said, it was found that he had cheated many people by misusing the names of several BJP leaders and ministers.
