Udupi: Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary performs Gopuja in scheduled tribes colony

Udupi, Nov 5: Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister of social welfare and the backward classes welfare, performed Gopuja in a Koragara Colony in Doddanagudde, herein Udupi on Friday, November 5, 2021.

Dalit widow woman named Kamalamma has been raising more than 50 indigenous breeds of cows in just 3 cents of land. Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, on the occasion of Deepavali took part in the Gopuja event in this goshala which is being run without any intentions of profit. Priest Padmanabha Acharya conducted the pooja. At the same time a mass prayer was held.

The minister gifted Kamalamma and her son a new set of clothes along with sweets and a quintal herd for cows. Minister Kota expressed his delight and amazement at Kamalammana's adventure of raising 50 cows in a mere three cents of land without any intention of profit.

Raghupati Bhatt, MLA Udupi constituency appealed to Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary to provide necessary facilities and safety for the Goshala. The Minister agreed to the plea and promised to fulfill it.

Dinaka Babu, former president Udupi Zilla Panchayat Giridhara Acharya, CMC Member Prof Sadashiva Rao, Prabhakar Poojary, Social activist Vasudeva Bhatt Perampalli, Suresh Poojary Pethri were present on the occasion.

Sweets were distributed to the residents of the colony on the instructions of the Minister.
