Mangalore, Nov 15: In the backdrop of CM’s visit to Puttur on Wednesday November 17 security will be beefed up in the town with the possibility of protests by few of the organizations unhappy with the programme. CM will be distributing bonds and sares to the beneficiaries of the Bhagyalakshmi scheme. Over 400 policemen, many from the Puttur sub-division and the rest from Chikmagalur and Mangalore, will be deployed.

Dr Subrahmanyeshwara Rao, SP, informed presspersons that party workers and beneficiaries will arrive at Puttur by 300 vehicles. Arrangements have been made to hire KSRTC buses and four-wheelers to bring the beneficiaries to the venue. Four parking lots have been arranged for these vehicles, he said.

Rao added, "The parking lots have been arranged in a way to prevent traffic blocks. The venue has 8 entry points at which metal detectors will be installed and everybody entering the venue will be checked."

Since the chief minister will arrive by helicopter at 12:25 p.m., helipad arrangements have been made on the grounds of St Philomena College. The function will conclude at 2:00 p.m after which CM will leave for Udupi.
