Mangalore: Free Arthritis Screening Camp Commences at Unity Health Complex

Mangalore, Jan 15: Unity Health Complex has organized a fifteen day free arthritis screening camp, which began at its premises, here on Saturday, January 15 and will continue till January 31.

Dr B Sachidananda Rai, Consultant Joint replacement surgeon, Unity Health Complex said that arthritis is a common problem of the elderly and is characterized by chronic joint pain, swelling and deformities of the joints. Over 60 million Indians are suffering from the problem, which will lead to permanent deformities, if neglected, he added.

Total joint replacement surgery where the deformed joint is replaced with artificial joint is a boon for patients suffering from severe arthritis. The joint replacement surgery gives complete pain relief and improves the quality of life.

The camp offers free consultation and x-ray. The needy patients can undergo joint replacement surgeries at a reduced cost, informed Dr Sachidananda Rai.
