Bangalore: High Court Issues Notices to CM, BJP, DGP over Bandh

Bangalore, Jan 24 (PTI): The High Court today ordered issue of notices to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, state unit BJP head K S Eshwarappa and Chief Secretary S V Ranganath over the ruling-party sponsored bandh on January 22.

The division bench comprising Chief Justive J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna also ordered issue of notices to Home Secretary Shiva Kumar and DGP Ajai Kumar Singh on a PIL filed by city-based advocate V Bopanna, who contended that the bandh was illegal.

The bandh call was given by BJP to protest Governor H R Bhardwaj's sanction for prosecution of Yeddyurappa in alleged land scams.

The petitioner termed the bandh as "self-sponsored by the BJP for its selfish political motives".

    This is a very good move by the High Court. Advocate V Bopanna should be commended for his initiative and he needs to be given full police protection. The media should keep a watch on him as affected parties might come to his house for negotiations and request him to withdraw the petition. All should respect the law of the land. To the best of my knowledge there is no provision or right for anyone to call for a bandh and that too force on unwilling people to participate in it. Most of the people stay indoors out of fear and safety for their lives.

    When the government is ruling their bundh is illegal. All those responsible for bundh should be sent to prison, including the CM, BJP and DGP. There should be no exception in law of the country. I am truly ashamed of the unlawful government in Karnataka. Only Dr. V. S. Acharya is quiet, because he knows the BJP government has shown their historical corruption in Karnataka. Better Dr.Acharya become the CM and then everything will be peaceful. Communal problem should be first solved. Swamijis should come out of the politics and Karnataka needs educated sincere and honest candidates to become MLA's and ministers. Abolish BC SC and ST and give preference on merits. There should not be poor and rich, all should be equal and the wealth of India should equally distributed among Indians. High class and low class difference should be vanquished. Indians should be Indians. Religions are personal, it is our individual rights to choose a religion.

    Very well said Mr. Gonsalves. BJP has two types of teeth like Elephant. Our High court judges are puppets, they too are nothing better than yeddy. There wont be any action, nor fine or penalty, they will give new dates for every case for another 10yrs.

    It's a shame to Yeddyurappa and BJP for sponsering the Bundh. Solution for Karnataka is to bring president rule and put all responsible in scam behind the bars and give rigorous imprisonment. Law should be same to every body. It's shame to people of entire Karnataka to observe these monkey games of Yeddy over the period of time.

    It is writing on the wall that BJP's prez,Ish, openly called for Bandh to his party followers.All damages inflicted during the time of Bandh should recoverd from Ish/BJP so that let it will be a lesson to all political parties.

    And they should pay for all the losses and damages to public property!! Put the so called unfit leaders behind bars until they pay for it!! Dear HC, set a benchmark so that politicians will nopt call for a Bandh!!

    When we Christians protested peacefully by closing the schools against the communal brutality, killings, destruction of Christian houses and property in the state of Orissa the Karnataka government issued notices to Christian educational institutions questioning to explain the closure. God sees the truth. Now explain dear fundamentalists and communal to the high court notice for the forceful closure.
